"Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love." ~ Mahatma Gandhi ~
Fear and love; Two very different emotions which cause two very different actions or reactions.
When we talk abut doing something we must always think of the how. In my last post entitled Do It Until, I discussed doing something until it was done. Today, I want to talk about how to go about doing something in a powerful way and I believe that there is no power as great as the power of love.
Do you remeber your first lover? The first kiss? The first slow dance?
Chances are pretty good that your answers to those were a resounding YES! The reason that you can remember those things is because of the power of love.
Now, do you remeber the first time you got into a fight with a friend? Probably not. The reason again is the power of love.
You see, love is such a strong emotion that, while you may have forgotten MANY things from way back then, the power of your love for that individual, that moment, that feeling, is embedded deep in your mind. Emotion is strong, love is the strongest! The reason you don't remember that first fight with a friend is because of love, as well. Even though you might have had a strong disagreement, your love for that friend overcame the disagreeement to the point that you may not even remember ever having had a fight with that friend!
When you are about to begin doing something that means something to you it is important to love what you are about to do. The more you love something the less likely you are to be stopped when the hard things happen; and THAT is power!
Imagine you begin doing a job that you absolutely dislike. It doesn't take long for you to begin picking apart every part of that job, finding more and more that you dislike about it. It's easy right! It's super easy to find the things you dislike in something that you already don't like.
What about starting your dream job? Many people have stayed in a dream job for many years while tollerating extreme abuse from co-workers and managers just because they loved what they were doing!
LOVE IS POWER!
The more love you pour into something the easier it is to deal with the hard stuff.
If you are in a relationship and you are going through hard times right now you may find that you have to lean on the power of love to get through it. That's true in every part of life. Certainly it can be most applied to your relationships.
Family. Work. Friends.
All relationships require a certain level of love in order to work.
Whatever you are doing right now requires love. Whoever you are dealing with right now requires love. Everything requires love to work properly.
In my last post, I talked about "doing it until". Until it's finished. Until you have gotten to where you want to get to. The love power factor will make your doing of the thing much more doable.
Find the thing that you love about the thing that you're doing. Find the thing you love about your why. Find what you love about everything you do and you will find that you have more power to achieve whatever your goals are.
If you talk to a football, baseball, soccer, hockey, tennis, or any other proffessional sport player they will tell you that the work that went into getting to where they are was gruelling. Talk to any billionaire who put in long hours thinking, studying, and planning their next investment and they will tell you it was hard. Talk to any orchestra player, chef, Top 10 band member or other type of artist and they will tell you that the work that it took to get to the level of skill that they currently possess took hard, grueling hours, much sweat and many tears. When you ask them why they went through all of that, the vast majority of the time they will tell you it was because they loved doing it so much.
Do you love what you are doing? Do you love the reason you are doing it? Do you love where it's taking your life? If you do, there is no power greater to acccomplish your goals than that love.
Final question: Do you love yourself enough to believe in yourself enough to do it?
Love is truly the greatest power. Make it your super power and begin living your life of happy success!
Until next time...
